Lights in the Sky

"She sets her mind on things above, not earthly things." -Colossians 3:2

The older I get, the more I see that this world is becoming a nasty place. Each time I hear about a man who rapes a woman, or a person who kills another, or same gender couples, it makes me feel sick. It's things like these, that makes me think that the end is near.

But, with that being said, there are also some pretty good enjoyments, such as Netflix and ice cream.

Keep what I just said in mind, as I ask you this question... "What matters most to you?"

Our main goal in life, should be to serve and honor God, as well as trying to enlarge His kingdom.

Don't get me wrong, I do think that Netflix, and money, and ice cream are all great things, but I believe that some people are allowing these "lights", to be a distraction to our real mission.

We work really hard to be a good christian, and a great woman of God, and every now and then, we tell ourselves, "I'll just take one day off," or, "I'm just going to take a break." But, do you think that God would take a day off on you?

Yesterday, I was reading my devotion, and it was talking about how we need to have a voice in educating people of Christ, as it may change someone's life. I got to thinking, and I realized that we can't do that (change someone's life) if we are too busy looking at the "lights".

I actually got this blog post idea, on the 4th of July. My family and I were over at a family friend's land. They have a pond, that my brother could fish in, and a big barbecue. When it started to get dark outside, we pulled out the chairs, and anxiously waited for the show to start. Earlier that day, I remember trying to come up with an idea for a blog post. As we sat and watched the LIGHTS above us, it hit me. It was almost like God was showing me that the fireworks are our distraction. We turn to watch the bright, flashy, and pretty lights in the world, when sometimes we should be paying more attention to the important things.

I don't think that it is bad to enjoy the "lights", but we need to make sure that we aren't using them as a distraction. I also think that the bad things shouldn't hold us back from accomplishing our mission, or just enjoying life.

I hope that you have an amazing day, and God Bless!
